Pavitra Krishnamani is a Clinical Fellow in Healthcare Innovation and an MD Candidate at Thomas Jefferson University. Having graduated with her MS in Global Medicine from the University of Southern California, she has previously held fellowships at the Sidney Harman Academy for Polymathic Study and the Levan Institute for Humanities and Ethics. Her current work at Jefferson’s Digital Innovation & Consumer Experience Group (DICE) draws from her clinical, academic, and fellowship experiences.

Informed by her background in global health, Pavitra has a strong inclination to innovate sustainably by understanding not just the users of a product, but also the environments that a technology may deploy in. It is with this ethos that she co-founded Jefferson’s AR VR Initiative at DICE. As a part of this initiative, Pavitra leads one of the first studies in the US examining how VR can be used to innovate outpatient cardiac rehabilitation. She also spearheads the initiative’s first venture into product development, exploring how VR can be used to more effectively teach providers how to negotiate high acuity cardiac situations in patients.

Pavitra is excited about the sheer number of possibilities that VR holds in innovating how we teach and deliver healthcare. She’s thrilled to share her insights and learn more with her colleagues at the Virtual Reality & Healthcare Symposium 2018.
